THE OPPORTUNITY
Silvus is seeking a Business Development Engineer, US Navy to join the Applications Engineering team. This role is structured for early- to mid-career candidates seeking to bridge technical radio frequency capabilities with naval defense customer requirements and emerging trends. Reporting to the Director of Applications Engineering, you will work alongside Engineering and Business Development teams to support US Navy acquisition stakeholders. In this position, you will assist in demonstrating the technical capabilities, interoperability, and field-readiness of our StreamCaster MANET radio portfolio across surface, airborne, uncrewed, and maritime environments. This role requires up to 50% travel for field tests, customer meetings, and demonstrations, with a 100% remote working option depending on location. ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in analyzing US Navy operational priorities (e.g., Distributed Maritime Operations, Project Overmatch) and mapping fleet requirements to tactical radio solutions. Support technical planning, network configuration, and live-on-the-air execution of field trials, modernizations, and user evaluations. Collaborate with the Applications Engineering team to leverage continuous testing and competitive benchmarking data, helping verify that proposed solution architectures are technically sound. Maintain close alignment with the Business Development team to support their ongoing technical needs and align work with established strategic priorities. Assist in building and presenting technical demonstrations tailored to maritime operational edge networking needs. Contribute technical input and review support for RFI/RFP proposal responses. Perform market research to identify potential integrations with industry partners and test end-to-end network architectures. Assist Business Development in engaging with technical stakeholders across NAVWAR, PEO C4I, NAVAIR/NAVSEA, ONR, and NIWC. Serve as an internal voice for the Sailor by gathering fleet feedback and maritime requirements, helping translate them into product roadmap inputs, and tracking engineering progress against operational needs. Perform other related duties of which the above are representative. Travel Requirement – 50%; frequent travel for customer meetings, events, and demonstrations REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related C5ISR field with 2–5 years of demonstrated experience in systems engineering, technical business
