Responsibilities
Independently evaluate, select and adapt standard techniques, procedures and criteria with limited supervision. Design complete projects, systems, components or processes. Prepare complete project documents with limited supervision. Analyze and interpret data, formulate and solve problems. Prepare scopes of work, budgets and schedule assignments. Assist with proposal development for professional services. Provide direction to engineers in training, technicians and administrative staff. Plan and coordinate detailed aspects of engineering work. Attend meetings and present specific components of assignments. Work within AutoCAD Civil 3D to successfully complete projects within established budgets and deadlines. Perform field investigations/ site visits as needed. Prepare concept layout with limited guidance. Intermediate layout, utility, grading and drainage design. Draft site-specific construction details. Review changes orders received from contractors. Perform and review hydrologic and hydraulic calculations. Review construction plans and details. Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and memos. Review lot grading applications, site plans, subdivision plans and prepare draft letters. Communicate with vendors and outside agency representatives. Prepare and review cost estimate for accuracy and completeness of scope.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field. 3-5+ years in related field. Engineer in Training (EIT) required. Valid driver’s license preferred. Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other related software packages, as applicable. Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge and acumen (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite). Ability to effectively work as part of a team (i.e.., collaborate, contribute, respect others). Ability to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge. Demonstrate advanced, general and basic non-routine knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices. Demonstrate advanced investigative, analytical and research skills. Demonstrate basic speaking skills to communicate general technical ideas, concepts and information to a technical and nontechnical audience. Demonstrate advanced technical and nontechnical writing, editing and proofreading skills. Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
