Main responsibilities: Position Summary The Assistant Meat Manager supports the Meat Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the Meat Department, ensuring exceptional customer service, product quality, food safety compliance, and department profitability. This role assists in supervising department associates, maintaining inventory and merchandising standards, supporting production activities, and delivering a fresh, high-quality meat selection to customers. Key Responsibilities Department Operations
Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the Meat Department. Ensure meat products are properly stocked, rotated, displayed, and maintained according to company standards. Monitor product quality, freshness, and inventory levels throughout the day. Support receiving, processing, cutting, packaging, and merchandising activities. Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness. Leadership & Team Development
Assist the Meat Manager in supervising, training, and developing department associates. Support onboarding and ongoing training of team members. Provide coaching, performance feedback, and recognition to associates. Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and customer service excellence. Assume leadership responsibilities in the Meat Manager's absence. Customer Service
Ensure customers receive prompt, friendly, and knowledgeable service. Assist customers with product selection, special requests, and preparation recommendations. Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently. Promote a customer-focused shopping experience throughout the department. Merchandising & Inventory Management
Assist with product ordering, inventory control, and replenishment activities. Ensure attractive merchandising, accurate pricing, and promotional execution. Monitor product shrink and implement strategies to reduce waste. Verify proper product rotation and adherence to freshness standards. Support seasonal merchandising and sales initiatives. Food Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, health department, and company requirements. Monitor proper product handling, storage, labeling, and temperature controls. Maintain required food safety documentation and department records. Promote workplace safety and adherence to all safety procedures. Assist with department audits and inspections. Financial Performance
Support achievement of department sales, profit, labor, and shrink goals. Assist with labor scheduling and productivity initiatives. Monitor inventory levels to maximize sales and minimize waste. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
