Systems Engineer (Principal) Company: The Boeing Company Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS), Space Missions Systems seeks a Systems Engineer provide project and technical leadership and ensure modern, best practices across programs and product lines, in a highly dynamic, collaborative environment. Our multi-disciplinary team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of next-generation, mission-focused technologies, products, and services for a variety of customers. We work all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, architecture, requirements, and design, build, integration, test, and demonstration.
Position
Responsibilities : Lead an impactful team immersed in innovative development projects that encompass activities across the systems engineering spectrum in design, build, deployment, operations, and maintenance for a wide variety of critically important platforms and systems. Lead development of vital architecture requirements and design, and direct our multidisciplinary engineering team as we progress on creative new endeavors. Provide oversight of engineering activities to ensure process discipline, adherence to technical requirements , and performance to program commitments. Understand and navigate complex system architecture development with multiple stakeholders. Ensure modern, best practices across programs and product lines for development and integration activities. Anticipate, communicate, and recommend actions and risk mitigations to technical teams and program leadership. Contribute to strategy, product roadmaps, and technology plans for end-to-end mission integration, space operations, and ground architecture. This position is expected to be fully onsite in either Seal Beach, CA; Aurora, CO; Colorado Springs, CO; El Segundo, CA; Herndon, CA; or Leesburg, VA.
Basic Qualifications
(Required Skills/Experience) : Active U.S. Top Secret. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.) 10+ years minimum of related experience. Experience leading people in a technical environment as a team lead or manager. Experience communicating with senior managers and executives, customers (internal and external), business partners, suppliers, subcontractors, and government representatives. Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
Preferred Qualifications
(Desired Skills/Experience) : Ability to mentor entry to senior level engineers. Able to produce make/buy decisions and proposals. Excellent written and spoken communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Problem solving and troubleshooting in a clear and concise manner. Strong communication skills and desire to integrate within a team that works under the principles of respect, trust, open-mindedness and fun. Passion for innovation and creative exploration of new technologies. Experience with agile development processes and methods. Experience with environment transitions, cloud technologies, cyber security, AI LLM. Experience with command and control, flight dynamics, or mission planning. Willing and able to travel up to 10% domestically. Typical Education & Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 20 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
