Primary Responsibilities
Serve as a hands-on DevOps software engineer on a fast-paced, high-volume transactional claims platform, contributing directly to code, automation, and reliability Design, build, and advance agentic AI and automation solutions that reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency across the platform Own and resolve assigned production issues, incidents, and service disruptions in a timely manner, driving root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence Partner directly with business stakeholders and value-stream owners to understand priorities, communicate issues, and meet service expectations Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and operations teams to support releases, changes, and production readiness Drive continuous-improvement initiatives - proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen tooling, workflows, and system stability Participate in on-call support and help ensure SLA commitments for business-critical applications are met Analyze operational metrics and incident trends to improve reliability and customer experience Stay current with emerging DevOps and AI/agentic tooling, and continuously improve automation and workflows based on feedback, lessons learned, and industry best practices Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so Required Qualifications: Graduate degree or equivalent experience B. Tech / M. Tech / MCA Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; 7+ years of overall software engineering / IT operations experience 6+ years of overall experience Hands-on programming experience in Python and Java Experience with AI/ML, Generative AI, or agentic AI / automation frameworks Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery and familiarity with DevOps practices and principles Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and its core services/infrastructure Working knowledge of SQL, scripting, and API integration Demonstrated ability to work independently - resolving incidents and driving improvements with minimal oversight At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
