As a member of Waabi’s Training and Compliance Team, you’ll be the primary hands-on trainer and subject matter expert responsible for developing our Fleet Specialist (FS) workforce—the team that keeps our autonomous trucks running safely and efficiently in the field. Drawing on your own experience as a Fleet Specialist, you will deliver the technical curriculum that builds FS proficiency in vehicle systems, hardware and software interfaces, troubleshooting procedures, Platform Shakeout Tests, and Mixed Reality Training scenarios. With cutting-edge autonomous technology and an uncompromising commitment to safety, we’re shaping the future of autonomous trucking, and we need technically sharp, experienced professionals like you to ensure every Fleet Specialist is fully certified and operationally ready before they ever support a live deployment. You will… Directly conduct new-hire onboarding for Fleet Specialists, executing the full training curriculum from classroom instruction through field certification. Deliver structured instruction across all VO and FS phases. Participate in VO and FS training ridealongs as a Fleet Specialist resource, providing trainees with real-time context on vehicle systems, operational support responsibilities, and FS-VO coordination in the field. Guide FS trainees to meet all defined proficiency thresholds. Serve as the primary technical instructor for autonomous vehicle systems, onboard hardware, software interfaces, diagnostic tools, and fleet support procedures used by Fleet Specialists. Deliver and assess Platform Shakeout Test (PST) training and Mixed Reality Training (MRT) modules, ensuring all FSs can execute these procedures accurately, independently, and safely. Execute the continuous learning framework by delivering refresher training and recertification following new SOPs, truck upfits, software updates, and feature releases. Act as a key liaison between the Training Manager and Dispatch (FS Supervisors) to ensure engineering-driven changes are translated into clear, executable field instruction. Utilize the Daily Training Tracker and Jira update processes to formally log and monitor FS trainee progress and ongoing development activities. Mentor high-performing Fleet Specialists through the Senior FS Trainer (Train-the-Trainer) program and support delivery of the Demo Readiness Certification. Qualifications: Minimum of 3+ years of direct experience as a Fleet Specialist or in a technically equivalent field operations role supporting autonomous or Class 8 vehicles. Strong technical aptitude with hands-on experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and operating autonomous vehicle systems, onboard hardware, and software interfaces. Demonstrated familiarity with fleet support procedures including Platform Shakeout Tests, Mixed Reality Training scenarios, and pre/post-trip inspection protocols. Demonstrated ability to deliver structured, safety-critical training and conduct performance assessments in a hands-on field environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable instruction for trainees at all experience levels. Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, including consistent and accurate record-keeping in LMS or tracking systems.
