Standard Job Description Job Summary: The Inventory/Stockroom Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, organizing stockroom items, and ensuring that materials and supplies are readily available to support production, maintenance, and office operations. The clerk performs receiving, issuing, counting, and documentation tasks while adhering to safety, quality, and inventory control procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments; record quantities, part numbers, and condition in the inventory system. Store materials and supplies in designated locations following established labeling, shelving, and handling standards. Issue parts, tools, and consumables to production or maintenance teams, ensuring proper documentation and authorization. Conduct regular cycle counts and full physical inventories; reconcile discrepancies and update inventory records. Maintain accurate stockroom locations, bins, and rack assignments; keep aisles clear and work area organized. Generate and distribute inventory reports (stock levels, reorder points, usage trends) to supervisors and purchasing. Process inventory adjustments for damaged, obsolete, or excess items; coordinate disposal or return as needed. Operate material handling equipment (hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts) safely and in compliance with company policies. Follow all safety, security, and environmental regulations (e.g., hazardous material handling, PPE). Support continuous‑improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to streamline stockroom operations. Basic Qualifications High school diploma or GED; additional coursework in logistics, supply‑chain, or related field preferred. 1–3 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse, or stockroom operations. Familiarity with inventory management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Fishbowl) and basic Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel. Must be a US Citizen- Due to special access requirements. Desired Skills Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and physical counts. Good organizational and time‑management abilities; capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously. Effective communication skills for interacting with production, purchasing, and maintenance personnel. Basic math proficiency for calculations related to stock levels and reorder points.
