We own the experiences that help hundreds of millions of customers worldwide make confident purchase decisions, from the moment they land on a product page to the moment they add to cart. Our work spans offer selection, offer display, pricing presentation, and the rich product information that surrounds the buy box. As the worldwide product showroom for the "everything store," we directly drive the majority of purchase decisions on Amazon across all surfaces: mobile, desktop, and voice. As a Software Development Engineer II on this team, you will own the design and delivery of significant features and services end to end. You will make architectural decisions that shape how hundreds of millions of customers discover, evaluate, and purchase products on Amazon. You will work on highly scalable systems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your code ships to customers quickly and your impact is real and measurable. You will raise the operational bar, contribute to a federated architecture that enables hundreds of partner teams across Amazon to innovate, and mentor engineers around you. Key job responsibilities - Own the design, development, and delivery of major features and services, from broadly defined problems through to production and operations. - Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry. - Make sound architectural and technical trade-offs, and drive engineering best practices, design reviews, code quality, testing, and operational excellence, across the team. - Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage and use. - Collaborate with cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market. - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the team.
