Job Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION – Principal Engineer Location: Remote, United Kingdom Division: TM1 Data Apps Contract Terms: Permanent, 40hours per week THE TEAM The TM1 Data Apps area is a group of Ticketmaster teams that provides Reporting, Marketing and Real Time data insights to our clients and partners, following a recent restructure the teams are now focused on working towards a common data source and accelerating our development of features and capabilities for our clients. THE JOB Ticketmaster Data Apps is looking for an experienced, motivated, and self-driven candidate who can work across the teams to foster collaboration, introduce best practices, share learnings and support the Engineering Director with designing and engineering larger initiatives within the teams. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Design and develop new systems and implement enhancements to existing systems, breaking down complex problems into essential components and building efficient solutions. Work with product teams to understand large units of development and the impact on the teams specifically to identify areas of reuse across the teams to eliminate wasteful development. Own and evolve technical strategy and architectural direction across all three teams. Review existing infrastructure and work with the teams to enhance and refactor to modern architectures again focusing on resuse and simplification, develop and design high-traffic, large scale software applications and data flow processes, infrastructure for deploying and long-term maintenance of the systems. Design and develop peripheral systems and processes - monitoring and alerting services, automated build and deployment pipelines, systems for gathering application performance metrics, ensuring efficiency in cost. Push best practices in system development ranging from test coverage, use of enterprise standards, adherence to target architecture, high-availability and scalability, low latency, and fault-tolerance, thus ensuring delivery of high-quality systems. Establish shared engineering standards, patterns, and guardrails, and ensure their consistent adoption across the wider function. Identify systemic technical risks and dependencies that span multiple products or teams, and lead their resolution. Work with the teams to design and build a comprehensive QA platform/solution to ensure quality and speed of delivery. Own solution design discussions and meetings to ensure systems are aligned in the bigger scheme of things. Also evaluating new tools and technologies for feasibility, cost and subsequent use in the company and teams Influence longer-term technology decisions and investment priorities with senior engineering, product, and business stakeholders. Ensure that solutions developed within individual teams support enterprise architecture, scalability, reliability, and security objectives. Act as a principal technical advisor on decisions with significant or long-term implications beyond the immediate area. Leading teams in development of new systems and new initiatives by executing the duties mentioned above as well as guiding, mentoring and in general helping team members in learning applications, technologies, best practices and processes.
