What We're Looking For
We are seeking a passionate, problem-solving SW/FW Senior Platform Engineer (Level 3) to join our smart camera development team. In this role, you will help build our next-generation vision platform, focusing on platform bring-up and management services. We value a strong creator instinct and a deep curiosity for Linux systems over years of syntax-heavy coding. Instead of manual line-by-line programming, we actively encourage you to utilize agentic AI tools to accelerate implementation, allowing you to focus on logic, system architecture, and debugging What We Do: We design and build intelligent, edge-based smart cameras featuring on-board Neural Processing Units (NPUs) that run hardware-accelerated image processing and vision algorithms. Your Role & Responsibilities: System Bring-Up: Assist with Linux platform bring-up using Yocto and manage system initialization utilizing systemd . Service Development: Help develop and maintain key platform management services in modern C++ and C. Automation: Script system behaviors, testing tools, and deployment workflows using Python and Bash. AI-Assisted Workflows: Actively integrate agentic AI coding assistants into your daily workflow to handle syntax, allowing you to focus on robust system design. Core Requirements: System Passion: A strong understanding of Linux OS fundamentals and system management. Problem-Solving Mindset: Exceptional logical skills and a "creator instinct"—we want builders, not just coders Tooling Foundations: Practical experience with Python, Bash, and systemd . Modern C++ Aptitude: While we do not require a "strong" C++ background, you must have a solid foundation and the ability to read, modify, and learn modern C++ (C++20) quickly with the aid of AI tools. Desirable Bonuses (Nice-to-Have): Any exposure to NPU execution , hardware-accelerated image/video processing, or machine learning pipelines at the edge. Basic experience or familiarity with the Yocto Project . Basic hardware literacy (e.g., reading schematics, using debug probes or oscilloscopes to see if a line is toggling). Incentive Compensation: In addition to base pay, Zebra offers this role the opportunity to earn a performance-based annual cash incentive, at a target equal to 10% of base pay, in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. Job Posting Statement: To protect candidates from falling victim to online fraudulent activity involving fake job postings and employment offers, please be aware our recruiters will always connect with you via @zebra.com email accounts. Applications are only accepted through our applicant tracking system and only accept personal identifying information through that system. Our Talent Acquisition team will not ask for you to provide personal identifying information via e-mail or outside of the system. If you are a victim of identity theft contact your local police department. AI Technology Statement: Zebra Technologies leverages AI technology to evaluate job applications using objective, job-relevant criteria. This approach enhances
