This is a judgment role: you will set direction, defend the quality bar, and work directly with business stakeholders to turn ambiguous requests into deliverable scope. AI coding tools are part of how this team works, and you will use them as a pair — the accountability for design, correctness, and long-term cost stay with the role.

Own architecture and technology selection: data models, build-vs-buy calls, and platform trade-offs across cost, latency, security, and vendor risk. Lead requirements management with business owners — read intent, challenge assumptions, negotiate scope, and keep delivery predictable. Define and enforce coding standards, review norms, and engineering culture; mentor mid-level engineers. Take handoff from the outgoing senior engineer during the overlap period and become the durable owner of that context.
