Job Summary
The Emergency Vehicle Technician II (EVT II) is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, testing, certifying, and repairing emergency response vehicles including fire apparatus, ambulances, fuel trucks, and associated equipment. The EVT II ensures vehicles remain mission-capable and compliant with NFPA standards, NAVFAC requirements, manufacturer specifications, and contract performance requirements. Roles and Responsibilities • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on emergency vehicles and equipment. • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and electronic systems. • Maintain and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drivetrains, steering, suspension, and brake systems. • Inspect, maintain, and repair fire apparatus, ambulances, and fuel trucks. • Perform troubleshooting using OEM diagnostic software and technical manuals. • Conduct vehicle inspections and assist with required testing and certification activities. • Complete field service calls and emergency repairs. • Document maintenance actions, inspections, repairs, labor, and parts usage in NAVFAC MAXIMO TR. • Identify warranty items, recalls, and recurring equipment deficiencies. • Support vehicle readiness and downtime requirements in accordance with contract standards. • Perform all work in accordance with NFPA 1071, NFPA 1911, NAVFAC P-300, NAVFAC P-307, OEM guidance, and applicable safety requirements. Basic Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent. • Certified Emergency Vehicle Technician II (EVT II). **Level II certification required for both Fire Apparatus and Ambulance** • Meets NFPA 1071 Emergency Vehicle Technician qualification requirements. • Minimum three (3) years of emergency vehicle, fire apparatus, ambulance, heavy-truck, or military vehicle maintenance experience. • Valid driver's license. • Ability to obtain and maintain installation access. Preferred Qualifications • Fire apparatus maintenance experience. • Ambulance maintenance experience. • EVT Commission certifications. • ASE certifications. • CDL or equivalent commercial vehicle qualification. • Military or overseas contingency operations experience. • Experience using Maximo or similar maintenance management systems. Work Environment • Outdoor and indoor maintenance operations in a high-temperature environment. • Emergency and after-hours response may be required. • Frequent lifting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, and working beneath vehicles. • Must wear required personal protective equipment.
