Job Description
ServiceNow is seeking a Director, Technical Accounting to lead our Technical Accounting team in our next phase of growth. This is a high-profile position that will play a critical role in addressing a wide variety of complex technical accounting matters, lead purchase accounting for an active M&A pipeline, and other related topics. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders throughout the Company to ensure the successful execution of key initiatives within the Finance organization. This role will report to the Sr. Director, Technical Accounting and M&A, who has responsibility for all technical accounting matters and leads Finance’s M&A process from diligence through integration. What you get to do in this role: Research and document the Company’s technical accounting issues; present and resolve the Company’s positions for critical accounting issues with internal leadership and external auditors Monitor, assess, and implement new accounting pronouncements applicable to the Company and partner with stakeholders to analyze the impact Key stakeholder throughout the M&A process starting from pre-letter of intent review, leading financial diligence, purchase accounting, and valuation, and supporting post-close accounting integration Subject-matter expert for certain technical accounting areas, such as business combinations, investment accounting, goodwill and intangible asset impairment testing, accounting for share-based compensation programs, revenue accounting matters (e.g., payments to a customer, gross versus net), and hedge accounting, amongst a variety of other complex accounting areas Review draft SEC disclosures on relevant technical accounting topics Lead quarterly and year-end close process for technical accounting matters, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and SEC disclosures and support, with delegation of routine items to team members Lead the development of and provide growth opportunities to the existing technical accounting team Be a trusted business partner and advisor to various stakeholders within Accounting, Finance, Legal, Corporate Development, and other cross-functional teams Take initiative for process improvements to scale and optimize the technical accounting process, including the implementation of AI initiatives Design, implement, and maintain effective global accounting policies, processes, procedures, and internal controls Serve as primary technical accounting liaison to external auditors, including leading resolution of complex accounting matters Take a leadership role in special projects and workflow process improvements Involvement in the SEC reporting process to help ensure the financial statements are in compliance with US GAAP Qualifications To be successful in this role you have: Total experience of minimum 12 years with a minimum of 5 years of Big Four public accounting experience BS/BA degree in Finance or Accounting and active CPA license is required Sr. Manager role in a Big Four public accounting firm and/or Director, Technical Accounting at a public company Positive, service-oriented attitude, highly motivated to learn and to make an impact
