Job Description
MAINFRAME & HOGAN EXPERTISE (REQUIRED): Deep experience in IBM z/OS mainframe environments, including batch and online transaction processing Strong hands-on knowledge of COBOL development within Hogan core banking systems Proven experience with key Hogan components, including: Demand Deposit Accounting (DDA) Customer Information System (CIS) Customer Account Management System (CAMS) Additional Hogan modules (e.g., IPS, MISER, RPS, ODS, PAS) or equivalent components Understanding of Hogan architecture, data flows, file structures, and transaction processing patterns Experience supporting high-volume, mission-critical financial systems with strict availability and resiliency requirements Experience with Hogan online processing environments, including CICS-based transaction systems Experience supporting systems processing high-volume financial transactions with near real-time or continuous availability expectations Experience contributing to mainframe modernization initiatives, including reduction of batch processing windows and movement toward continuous or real-time processing models MODERN MAINFRAME DEVELOPMENT & DEVOPS (REQUIRED) : Hands-on e xperience with modern development tools for mainframe, including: IBM Developer for z/OS ( IDz ) or Visual Studio Code with Z extensions Source control using GitLab or equivalent Git-based platforms Demonstrated e xperience implementing or supporting CI/CD pipelines for mainframe applications Familiarity with application security and code scanning tools (e.g., Black Duck) Knowledge of Endevor or similar mainframe SCM tools, with experience transitioning toward modern pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD) Ability to bridge traditional mainframe practices with modern DevOps methodologies Experience with automated testing strategies for mainframe applications, including unit, integration, and regression testing ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Understands the different slices of the technology stack and has an advanced view on the applications. Responsible for applications systems analysis while seeking technical advantages and inspiring development activities. Leads by example, supports team and establish credibility with the quality of individual and team execution . Coaches teams on following standards and aims for best practices, including a culture of quality and continual improvement. Empowers and coaches teams to consistently write production-ready code that is easily testable and understood by other developers, and accounts for edge cases and errors. Works to build and improve relationships, effectively communicates , and solicits feedback from engineers, managers and stakeholders . Is a touchpoint for technical inquiries from product managers, scrum masters, and customer support with the mindset and ability to effectively influence team members who build and ship high quality consumer facing products in a fast-paced, agile product development team while align ing with company and technology vision . Understands cross-team technical roadmaps, advocating new product abilities based on technical strategy & constraints, assists with cross-team strategic efforts and influences decisions to achieve efficient delivery of business value.
