Job Overview

As an Electrical Design Engineer at Hubbell, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for researching, designing, and developing electrical and electronic hardware products from concept through production release. These efforts support the development of our innovative protection and control solutions for electric power systems. This position focuses on creating robust, reliable, and innovative hardware solutions that streamline development processes and enable the delivery of best-in-class products to our customers. The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex technical challenges, developing creative engineering solutions, and collaborating with highly skilled cross-functional teams. In this role, you will work closely with software, firmware, and product development teams throughout the product lifecycle, performing the essential duties and responsibilities outlined below. #LI-KR1  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Electrical Design Engineer independently evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, exercising sound judgment in making necessary adaptations and modifications. The incumbent is expected to be a fully competent engineer within the assigned technical disciplines and functional areas of responsibility. This role requires the application of sound engineering judgment in the evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of established techniques, procedures, and design criteria. The position also supports management in the development of innovative approaches to technical challenges and problem-solving initiatives. The individual must be capable of independently performing assignments with only general direction regarding expected results while seeking technical guidance on unusual, complex, or highly specialized problems when appropriate. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following duties:

Works with the hardware engineering team and supervisor to determine the feasibility of designing new products or modifying existing products, considering costs, available space, time constraints, company objectives, and other technical and economic factors. Consults with engineering staff to evaluate hardware/software interfaces and the operational and performance requirements of the overall system. Adheres to performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment and products. Analyzes product and equipment specifications and performance requirements to develop designs that can be manufactured using existing facilities, processes, and methods. Develops hardware design solutions, including analog circuit design, digital circuit design, microprocessor-based board-level design, printed circuit board (PCB) layout, digital signal processing (DSP), and real-time embedded multiprocessor systems. Performs circuit simulation, analysis, and design verification using PSpice and other engineering tools to validate performance, functionality, and reliability. Applies Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Testability (DFT), and Design for Reliability (DFR) principles throughout the product development process. Prepares product and system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics. Supports prototype development, assembly, and testing activities. Provides technical expertise regarding manufacturing and processing techniques, material properties, and process advantages and limitations that impact long-term product engineering strategies. Assists in developing hardware test procedures, programming, and supporting documentation. Supports beta-site and external field-testing programs as needed. Analyzes test data and prepares reports to determine whether designs meet functional and performance requirements. Designs, tests, and enhances products to comply with IEC, IEEE, ANSI, EN, UL, CSA, CE, and other applicable international standards. Collaborates with Product Marketing
