About this role
The Staff Product Engineer will be responsible for product line engineering of assigned quarter-turn ball valves. The Staff Product Engineer will identify product configurations and options to meet customer specifications. Additionally, they will coordinate with other engineering resources (GTEC Bangalore ) to complete engineering documentation and will review and approve bills of materials, as well as component and general arrangement drawings. The candidate will address various issues related to product design and manufacturing, including sales and quoting support, production costs, feasibility, quality, performance, reliability, serviceability, and customized user features. Responsibilities will also include product and component design, development, and transitioning the product to manufacturing, along with supporting the sales and service teams in quoting and repairing the product. PRIMARY RESPONSBILITIES Ensure engineering design and standards documentation is complete, accurate , and sufficient in support of global manufacturing and quality assurance activities. This includes generating or checking bills of material, manufacturing drawings and sales order drawings. Check and approve engineering documentation created by other resources, including GTEC Provide technical and customer service support for new customer inquiries, including the design of special products, technical evaluations of project sales quotations, application and troubleshooting assistance , and evaluations of returned goods. Communicate between order management, commercial operations, quality and GTEC resources to resolve order issues and answer product questions Support product development and improvement activities addressing manufacturability, material cost, reliability and performance enhancements . Implement engineering best practices and Flowserve standards. Maintain up-to-date awareness of relevant national, international and industry standards and initiate any product improvements of modifications to ensure the product line meets these requirements. Support manufacturing and quality in processing orders through the shop floor . REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree. Able to support multiple projects simultaneously utilizing advanced project management tools, methods, and applications . Must have a high sense of urgency to meet lead-time requirements and processing engineering workflow tasks Familiarity with and understanding of various International Standards relating to valves . Computer-Assisted Design/3-Dimensional design, Solid works and/or Inventor . Engineering analysis using appropriate methods , such as calculation, testing or FEA. Capable of reading, interpreting, and creating engineering drawings, especially relating to manufacturability and tolerancing. Effective oral and written communications . Must have a collaborative style that encourages the flow of communication, removes obstacles, and promotes problem solving and teamwork. Interpersonal communications skills are critical for working with cross-functional departments, customers and vendors . Must have high sense of urgency to plan and execute project deliverables to meet schedule milestones. Able to work independently, with organizational skills to establish priorities and drive tasks to completion . REFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: 3 + years’ experience in product engineering, particularly on industrial type products in a manufacturing environment. E xperience in industrial process valve design. Specifically, experience with quarter turn valves, such as butterfly , plug or ball valves. Experience with castings, forgings and machined components. Knowledge of various materials utilized in industrial products, such as steel alloys and non-metallic sealing elements. Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) certification,
