About this role
The Opportunity Based at Linton Military Camp, you’ll put your automotive expertise to work maintaining and repairing the NZ Army’s heavy vehicle fleet, keeping critical equipment safe, reliable and mission-ready. From post-deployment inspections to fault diagnosis and repairs, you’ll work across Workshop and MRO teams, with the flexibility to jump in where you’re needed most. Key responsibilities Provide technical support to the Team/Section Lead to improve processes or procedures. Provide hands on repair and maintenance tasks to automotive vehicles and equipment, to the necessary quality and industry best practice standards, and in a safe and professional manner. Undertake maintenance and repair tasks to ensure first time compliance with warrant of Fitness (WOF) and Certificate of Fitness (COF) standards. Be prepared to adapt to new technology as it evolves within the trade; both in terms of vehicles and equipment, and data entry. Link with production office staff for materials, consumables and other services to facilitate the repair of equipment. Liaise with technical authorities and customers as necessary to successfully complete repairs, maintenance and servicing of equipment. What you’ll bring National Certificate in Automotive Engineering, Heavy Diesel Vehicles or equivalent NZ accredited qualification with in the automotive industry. Minimum Class 1 & 2 driver licences. Demonstrated technical competence in automotive mechanical and electrical repairs. Basic engineering skills and mechanical aptitude. Knowledge of vehicle electronics and diagnostic processes. In depth knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements pertaining to the automotive trade. Trade experience in providing supervision and instruction to apprentices.
