Job Description
An opportunity for an Instrument Functional Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence and Space , Getafe (Madrid). The selected candidate will join the Functional Avionics Engineering Department, responsible for all functional avionics activities for satellite platforms and instruments. Working in a multidisciplinary engineering team alongside electrical, system, and MTP engineering, the candidate will contribute to high-profile missions like PAZ2, Spainsat NG, and ADLER . The role offers the opportunity to gain expertise in active antenna payloads while ensuring on-cost, on-time, and on-quality product deliveries to customers .
RESPONSIBILITIES
The main tasks of the jobholder will be: Manage technical aspects of functional activities with a focus on instrument interfaces and operational procedure testing/validation . Support instrument software development and technical follow-up of subcontracted equipment development . Coordinate with the AIT team on test system definitions, system integration, test preparations, and report reviews . Support operations and maintain user manuals during In-Orbit Commissioning (IOC) . Assist Quality Teams in anomaly investigations (NRBs) and collaborate with cross-functional engineering disciplines throughout the project lifecycle . Elaborate technical documentation , deliver presentations, support project technical reviews, and lead supplier reviews .

Education
Aeronautical, Industrial Engineering degree, or a related discipline .
Experience
Early-career profile with exposure to space systems or functional avionics . Soft skills: Strong adaptability, team player mindset, and the ability to work in close collaboration within a multidisciplinary environment . Languages: Advanced level in English & Spanish (both written & spoken) . Technical knowledge: Knowledge in functional avionics disciplines (AOCS, SW, DB, FB, or OPS), instrument interfaces, and software development support .
