About this role Company: BlackRock Financial Management, Inc.  Job Title: Associate, Application Engineer Location: 40 Howard St. San Francisco, CA 94105 Job Duties: Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and Spring frameworks. Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code following established coding standards. Implement database queries and updates for relational databases (SQL Server) and work with NoSQL databases (Apache Cassandra) for data storage and retrieval. Integrate backend components with internal systems using RESTful APIs. Debug and fix defects in backend applications; assist in troubleshooting production issues. Participate in Agile and Scrum activities such as daily stand-ups and sprint tasks. Collaborate with team members, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver features on time. Follow best practices for version control, build processes, and deployment. Utilize AI-powered tools for improving development efficiency. Continuously learn new technologies and improve coding skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or as a Software Development Engineer, or a related role. Must have two (2) years of experience with the following: Object-Oriented Programming (OOP); Java; Backend and Full-Stack enterprise application development, building apps or services from the ground up and scaling at an enterprise level; Applying Design Patterns for scalable, maintainable code; SQL, Stored Procedures, and Relational Data Modeling; JUnit Testing with coverage standards and Mocking Frameworks (Mockito); Kafka for Messaging and Event-Driven Architecture; Modern DevOps practices and CI/CD Workflows; and Cloud Infrastructure including AWS and Azure. For San Francisco, CA Only the salary range for this position is USD$147,500.00 - USD$162,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits.
