Position
Summary: Aetna Mental Well-being is reimagining how mental health is delivered with a unified, tech-enabled approach for our best-in-class Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Resources for Living. The EAP Clinical Counselor plays a vital role in Aetna Mental Wellbeing’s commitment to delivering timely, high-quality mental health care. This position transforms access to mental health support by providing members with an immediate, 24/7 connection via video, live chat, or phone. We are seeking candidates who share our passion for delivering industry-leading mental health services to people nationwide. The EAP Clinical Counselor will act as a top-level specialist to provide counseling and informational services to members. Coordinates resources to support optimal care and lifestyle management services. Implements system to assess member's clinical needs and applies appropriate clinical tools to identify and provide services. Fully remote in the USA. Shift: Wed-Sun 2:30pm - 11:00 pm EST - Schedules may change based on business needs; participation in periodic shift bidding is required.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for provision of telephone-based assessment, triage, consultation, counseling and informational services, delivered in a call center environment using a variety of advanced clinical assessments, motivational Interviewing and solution focused/short-term problem resolution. Provides risk, substance abuse and mental health assessments to develop immediate action/safety plans based on level of urgency. Has an understanding of various levels of care (mental health and substance use) to aid in appropriate recommendation of care based on the assessment of need. Has an excellent ability to join with and collaborate with a member to understand their needs and be in alignment with the member’s theory of change. Provides information to members regarding mental health, substance abuse, community treatment, and related mental health programs to assist members with linkage to resources to aid in the alleviation of stressors. Collaborates with team of professionals in a way that supports a positive clinical outcome and continuity of care for all members. Requires use of multitasking skills to type/document while also using other tools to assist with call handing while speaking with members. Protects the confidentiality of member information and adheres to enterprise, EAP policies regarding confidentiality. Maintains accurate and complete documentation of required information that meets risk management and regulatory requirements. Maintains current independent behavioral health license in good standing in the state where they reside, seeking professional development and meeting all state licensure requirements. Workspace Requirements: Must have a separate workspace, free from distraction, in a room with a door that closes, to maintain member privacy. Need to be hardwired and have reliable internet. Internet speed - Home Internet Download Speed to be a minimum of 400mbps and Upload speed between 10-20mbps. Broadband or Fiber connection. Using DSL (satellite), Cellular internet (T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T Fixed Wireless, US Cellular to name a few) use cell towers or a satellite and not a direct cable to provide internet. Ensure provider sets up a 4 port modem. Employees use the 4th port for work internet.
Required Qualifications
1+ years of crisis intervention experience. Valid unrestricted independent professional behavioral health clinical license to practice
