Job Description: The Role and Impact As Compiler Engineering Intern, you will dive into the exciting world of compiler technologies, contributing to the advancement of Intel's open-source compiler stack. Your day-to-day tasks will involve analyzing applications and benchmarks, triaging issues, and assisting in developing innovative compiler features that maximize hardware performance. Within DCG, the SYCL Runtime team focuses on optimizing tools and technologies to enhance software performance across Intel's CPU and GPU architectures. Key Responsibilities - Analyze and triage performance issues in C++, OpenMP, and SYCL applications and benchmarks. - Collaborate with cross-geo engineering and validation teams to ensure product quality and performance. - Investigate and resolve compiler defects, prepare reproductions, and track bug submissions. - Contribute to compiler middle-end and back-end development, including scalar and loop optimization and vectorization. - Execute functional and performance experiments, including stress testing, and identify opportunities for product improvement. - Engage with open-source compiler communities and contribute to industry-wide solutions.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline. - Hands-on experience in C/C++ coding, object-oriented programming, and data structures gained through internships, academic projects, coursework, or hands-on training. - Proficiency in Linux and Windows command-line environments. - Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with a history of proactively pursuing solutions. Preferred Qualifications - Familiarity with compiler technologies such as middle-end/back-end development, linker, or assembler. - Knowledge of code optimization techniques for efficient hardware performance. - Experience with parallel programming models like OpenMP, CUDA, or SYCL. - Demonstrated ability to analyze runtime behaviors and contribute to performance improvements for heterogeneous computing architectures.
