About this role
Description & Requirements
WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world’s best places to work. We are currently the top ranked consulting firm on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list and have earned the #1 overall spot a record seven times. Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don’t happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally. WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH You’ll join Bain’s Product, Practice & Knowledge team and work across two distinct practices within our Performance Improvement capability: Capital Projects Acceleration (CPA) and Engineering & R&D (ER&D). Our Capital Projects Acceleration practice helps owners, operators, and developers of large, complex capital programs across energy, utilities, industrials, mining, chemicals, and infrastructure deliver projects faster, at lower cost, and with greater certainty. We partner with clients across the project lifecycle, from early shaping and pre-FID readiness through execution and ramp-up. Our Engineering & R&D practice helps clients strengthen the engineering and R&D capabilities that underpin long-term competitiveness, particularly in advanced manufacturing, industrials, software, and technology-intensive sectors. Our work includes engineering operating model redesign, productivity and efficiency diagnostics, and the integration of AI and digital tools into engineering and product development. Both practices are growing quickly as competitive intensity increases and AI reshapes how projects are planned, engineered, and delivered. You’ll work closely with the leadership of both practices, as well as Knowledge Management and Center of Excellence teams, case teams, Marketing, Business Development, and external partners. WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM Based in Lisbon, you’ll help build and scale the intellectual property, tools, and capabilities behind two growing Bain practices. This is primarily a practice-focused rather than client-staffed role. You’ll build and evolve proprietary diagnostics, tools, benchmarks, and points of view; enable case teams to bring them to clients; support commercialization and go-to-market activities; and help strengthen the practices and their communities. You may also occasionally work directly with clients, including supporting diagnostics or workshops alongside Bain case teams. This is an opportunity to operate at the intersection of strategy, product development, AI, and client impact. You’ll have the opportunity to shape new offerings, work directly with senior practice leaders and partners, and help build capabilities that are actively evolving. WHAT YOU’LL DO IP, tools, and innovation Build and refresh diagnostics, tools, sales plays, benchmarks, and points of view across the two practices. Develop expertise in priority areas such as schedule acceleration, capital operating models, quantitative risk, and engineering productivity. Use AI tools to accelerate research, content creation, and analysis, and help build AI-enabled tools that strengthen client diagnostics, decision-making, and delivery. Work with Knowledge Management to capture and codify field learnings into the practices’ knowledge base. Case-team and client enablement Help case teams apply practice IP to specific client situations and deliver onboarding and bootcamps. Help connect case teams with specialists and affiliates where their expertise can add the most value. Commercialization and go-to-market Support priority pursuits by developing proposal and pitch content and sales plays. Build awareness and adoption of the practices’ IP internally and with partners. Coordinate pitch debriefs and
