About Ads Engineering and Marketing Technology Innovation Ads Engineering builds platforms, services, APIs, and experiences for sellers that drive advertising on eBay. The team covers campaign and advertising workflows, dashboards and reporting, public APIs, selling flows, and foundational systems that enable sellers and advertisers to grow their enterprises. MarTech Engineering develops the platforms and capabilities that drive customer marketing and lifecycle engagement throughout eBay. The team concentrates on customer marketing platforms, performance marketing, marketing implementation systems, and the technological foundations that support personalized, measurable, and scalable customer engagement. About the team and the role The Ads Engineering and MarTech Engineering teams develop comprehensive products, platforms, and workflows that assist sellers in expanding their businesses. They enable advertisers to achieve specific goals and direct customers to the appropriate inventory when necessary. Their work covers frontend applications, backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and modern engineering methods. These teams work closely with Product, Development, Analytics, Applied Science, and program leadership. As a senior engineering leader, your responsibilities include detailed involvement in architecture discussions. You will assess production code, help define platform strategy, and assist engineering teams in solving complex technical issues while promoting a high-performance engineering culture. You will lead teams responsible for building and evolving critical platforms that power experiences for millions of users globally. What you will accomplish Lead the build, development, and evolution of highly scalable systems and distributed platforms. Stay actively involved in architecture, build reviews, technical decision-making, and critical code paths. Drive modernization initiatives including migration from monolithic systems to cloud-native microservices architectures. Partner closely with architects, product leaders, and engineering teams to define long-term technology strategy. Champion engineering excellence through code quality, performance optimization, observability, resiliency, and operational excellence. Build, guide, and develop high-performing engineering teams across multiple geographies and time zones. Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, continuous learning, and customer obsession. Lead large-scale platform transformations that improve developer efficiency, system reliability, and customer experience. Influence organization-wide engineering practices, architecture standards, and technology roadmaps.

Over 12 years of software engineering experience accompanied by a proven history of guiding high-performing engineering teams. Deep hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Distributed Systems, Event-Driven Architectures, Cloud Platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), and modern data technologies. Proven success building and scaling high-throughput, low-latency platforms serving millions of customers. Strong architectural competence across scalability, resiliency, observability, and performance engineering. Passionate about technology with the ability to dive deep into code, influence
