Auditing & Reconciliation Clerk (College Student) Part-Time The Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) represents more than 8,900 sworn members of the Los Angeles Police Department and is dedicated to protecting the rights, benefits, and working conditions of its members. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented college student to join our benefits administration team. This position offers hands-on experience in finance, benefits administration, data analysis, reconciliation, and human resources within a respected labor organization. The position pays $25.00 to $28.00 per hour, depending on experience, and provides an excellent opportunity to develop valuable professional skills while supporting a mission-driven organization. To thrive/succeed as the Benefits Auditing & Reconciliation Clerk, you should have: Current enrollment as a part-time or full-time student at an accredited Los Angeles-area college or university. Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Human Resources, or a related field. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, IF statements, and data-cleaning techniques. Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail. Ability to identify discrepancies and resolve complex financial issues. High level of professionalism and confidentiality when handling sensitive information. Availability to work a consistent schedule of 15 to 20 hours per week during regular business hours.

Your Responsibilities

Submit, audit, and process bi-weekly deduction change reports. Update systems for enrollments, terminations, and qualifying life event changes. Identify, track, and resolve billing and deduction discrepancies. Calculate and process retroactive deductions and catch-up payments. Reconcile monthly insurance carrier invoices against internal enrollment records. Manage direct premium billing and collections for employees on unpaid leave. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with benefit plan requirements. Assist with auditing member benefit accounts and vendor billings.
