About this role

Our thirst for technology is a part of everything we do. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians. With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical). The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what’s possible. We empower Google customers with breakthrough capabilities and insights by delivering AI and Infrastructure at unparalleled scale, efficiency, reliability and velocity. Our customers include Googlers, Google Cloud customers, and billions of Google users worldwide. We're the driving force behind Google's groundbreaking innovations, empowering the development of our cutting-edge AI models, delivering unparalleled computing power to global services, and providing the essential platforms that enable developers to build the future. From software to hardware our teams are shaping the future of world-leading hyperscale computing, with key teams working on the development of our TPUs, Vertex AI for Google Cloud, Google Global Networking, Data Center operations, systems research, and much more.

Develop scope and technical requirements to drive the end-to-end design, drawing documentation, implementation, and lab/on-site testing of secure, resilient Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity solutions. Perform technical reviews of new control system infrastructure initiatives, embedding robust cybersecurity requirements across every phase from initial architecture and testing to deployment. Serve as a key technical liaison across cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex design, integration, and deployment challenges within mission-critical environments. Execute design sustaining and lifecycle management activities across pre-deployment, post-deployment, and ongoing operations for cybersecurity solutions and OT infrastructure components (including networking, SCADA/HMI servers, clients, and software). Identify strategic opportunities for continuous improvement and security maturation across the OT environment to systematically reduce operational risk.

Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's in Engineering, Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5 years of experience in industrial control system architecture as it pertains to standard protocols (e.g., BACnet, Modbus), and system administration. 5 years of experience in industrial control system hardware (PLCs, relays, IEDs, IO modules) and their integration with IT security layers. 5 years of experience in generating technical product specifications/requirements, conceptual schematics, and system architecture drawings to drive control system projects. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Science, or a related field. CISSP, GICSP, or GRID certification. 5 years of experience working with mission-critical facilities (data centers, power plants, or manufacturing). Experience in programming/scripting in Python, Golang, Java, or a similar language. Experience leading OT cybersecurity maturation and improvement initiatives (e.g., secure by design principles, and segmentation strategies). Experience with OT visibility and threat detection platforms (e.g., Claroty, Nozomi, Dragos, Tenable OT, Crowdstrike etc.).
