Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Trading Assistant (TA) to join our Global Relative Value (RV) Trading team in Boston.
The team manages a diversified global macro and relative value portfolio, primarily focused on fixed income markets, whilst opportunistically deploying risk across volatility, foreign exchange, and equity dislocation strategies. The investment approach combines fundamental and quantitative relative value analysis with active risk management, seeking to generate uncorrelated returns across geographies, asset classes, and market environments.The portfolio trades a broad range of instruments including government bonds, repo, interest rate swaps, swaptions, interest rate futures and options, inflation-linked products, FX forwards, volatility swaps and options, and other derivatives across developed and emerging markets. This is a dynamic front-office role at the heart of the trading process. The successful candidate will partner closely with traders to ensure accurate trade capture, robust risk management, efficient lifecycle event processing, and effective day-to-day management of the trading platform. The role offers significant exposure to global markets, portfolio construction, and trading strategy implementation within a fast-paced investment environment.
The Trading Assistant will work closely with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Operations, Risk, Finance, Technology, Compliance, and external counterparties to ensure the smooth functioning of the desk and the integrity of its trading and risk infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Impact
• Support traders in the execution and booking of trades across fixed income markets.
• Ensure timely and accurate trade capture within front-office trading systems.
• Monitor trade flows and investigate booking discrepancies
• Liaise with middle and back office teams to resolve trade breaks and settlement issues.
• Maintain accurate records of all trading activity and amendments.
• Monitor desk positions, P&L, inventory, financing, and risk exposures throughout the trading day.
• Reconcile positions between trading, risk, and settlement systems.
• Assist traders with risk reporting, scenario analysis, and position management.
• Produce daily reports highlighting key exposures, limit utilisation, and portfolio changes.
• Escalate risk, valuation, or control issues in a timely manner.
