The need for a specialized Analyzer Technician is primarily driven by the presence and utilization of sophisticated technologies in modern analytical systems that require a high degree of learning. A well-qualified field Analyzer Technician is expected to work on a self-directed basis concerning troubleshooting and maintenance of individual components of varying types of analyzers and associated sample systems in a variety of operating units ranging from ethylene, polymer and utility units. Candidates should demonstrate a propensity for critical thinking and troubleshooting skills. Availability to work scheduled (routine ‘turnaround’) or unscheduled (call-out’/emergency) overtime is a must. Candidates must also be available to work varying shifts, nights and/or weekends if needed. A Day in the Life
Participates and supports Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and processes in the plant. Follows all safety and environmental regulations and accepts personal commitment to the safe operation of the plant that is shared by all employees. Learns and understands the process and mechanical hazards of their assigned area and uses required safety equipment as appropriate. Works as a leader to identify issues related to mechanical or process abnormalities pertaining to analytical system problems. Acquires the ability to learn the leadership skills necessary to provide technical assistance to production and engineering groups on the application of analyzer and process instrumentation technologies. Utilizes SAP, Excel, Word, and various specialty computer-based programs daily. Assists in development and review of work processes and procedures. Manages time and work requirements in an ethical manner. Keeps up with their computer-based training to stay compliant with PSM requirements Initiates SAP notifications for repair work to be performed on analyzer equipment Reads and interprets technical documentation, diagrams, and loop sheets. Follows direction and completes job assignments, such as installation, repair, and calibration of analyzer systems safely and efficiently. Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds. Ability to work in changing climate conditions and outdoor industrial environments.
You Bring This Value
Ability to understand and repair advanced process instrumentation and analyzer systems, such as gas chromatographs, infra-red, laser, conductivity, pH, moisture, O2, BTU, and CEMS Understands and troubleshoots all manners of modern process instrumentation systems.
Ability to learn and understand basic computer networking techniques and digital communication strategies, such as Modbus and OPC. Successful candidate will be part of the on-call schedule. One week every 9 weeks.
