Job Description

Job Title : Director – Legal & Company Secretary The Purpose of this role You will be responsible for Corporate Legal Governance and to provide legal advice on various aspects of business operations in India. You will play a key role in enabling the organization achieve its business objectives and mission, upholding the culture of compliance and ethics. The Value you deliver You will partner with teams across the global Legal team, enabling teams in India and various business partners to ensure that the operations are conducted in compliance with the laws of India and in alignment with Fidelity’s global standards and practices. The Skills that are key to this role A qualified Company Secretary with experience in a similar role, with the knowledge, skills and experience to drive and ensure corporate governance, including, but not limited to conduct of board meetings, maintaining statutory records and documents of the Company, and ensuring corporate secretarial compliances in India. A qualified lawyer with a demonstrated ability and experience in advising on legal and regulatory issues in a comparable company. This experience should include general legal advisory guidance across, Corporate Governance, Employment, Real Estate, Procurement and Environment Laws. A highly collaborative individual who consistently builds positive relationships across the Legal team, while effectively engaging with cross-functional teams and business partners to drive shared objectives and successful outcomes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including advocacy, negotiation and presentation skills) and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to effectively advise and influence senior executives and professionals from diverse businesses on a wide range of issues. Analytical thinking and attention to detail. Demonstrates initiative and accountability, to work effectively in a dynamic environment. Successfully provides legal advisory to enable business projects and priorities and, while maintaining a high standard of delivery and collaboration. Attitude of innovation and a positive focus on identification of opportunities for improvement in processes and policies and increase value for the organization. Ability and experience in practical and comprehensive risk assessment, including identification of risks and development of risk assessment measures. Builds positive relationships and credibility across partners, enabling Legal to have a significant voice in crafting business strategies, decisions, and outcomes. Ability to understand and adapt to changing business priorities and technology advancements. The Expertise we are looking for 15+ years of professional experience as a Company Secretary and a Lawyer with proven expertise and experience in a comparable company in India.
