Grade Level (for internal use): 09 The Team: The candidate will be part of the Security Research Group within the Index Management & Production Group (IMPG) which is responsible for the maintenance and calculation of S&P Dow Jones Indices which includes a wide range of high profile indices based in Latin America and globally. The Impact: The Senior Associate, Index Management will research company information for all companies in an assigned country (countries), including shares outstanding, free float information and corporate actions with a certain degree of complexity (mergers, acquisitions, spinoffs, etc). This role requires an excellent understanding of equity markets What’s in it for you: This is a global role, with the opportunity to fully support the Security Research Group within IMPG with a focus on Latin America markets. The Senior Associate is responsible for all aspects of an assigned group of companies/markets and should become a subject matter expert. The Senior Associate will also make recommendations on the treatment of corporate actions in line with our policies and procedures, directly implementing changes to S&P Dow Jones Indices.
Responsibilities
Research and Analysis on Market Driven Events Closely monitor and track corporate actions (i.e. Mergers, Acquisitions, Spinoffs, etc). Monitor multiple news sources for new corporate action announcements. Analyze how these actions will affect indices and decide on strategies to implement corporate actions. Research, input, interpret and verify corporate actions for assigned markets and ensure they are correctly applied in our systems, in line with S&P DJI policies and procedures Consult & communicate with other teams on adjustments to indices resulting from corporate actions, in particular those events with global impact Research, analyze and maintain company shares outstanding and free float information. Present analysis to the team, and/or other internal stakeholders, on proposed corporate action treatments. Provide backup functions for other team members and perform QA functions for multiple workflow processes. Technology Create and support automation tools and processes used by the team. Become a subject matter expert on technology systems used to maintain S&P Dow Jones Indices. Must demonstrate an ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and platforms. Propose ways to improve/streamline processes. Help to plan, test and implement workflow changes and participate in quality assurance processes. Help test enhancements to our systems and processes. Build familiarity with available S&P Dow Jones Indices AI tools and identify opportunities to integrate them into day-to-day workflows to improve efficiency, quality, and decision-making Customer Focus and Communication Responsibilities Maintain customer focus by considering the client impact of changes to indices, communicate changes to other impacted teams in a clear and timely manner. Escalate issues as appropriate. Provide timely, complete and accurate responses to client inquiries, working with our client service teams as appropriate Ensure the timely announcement to clients of certain corporate actions and changes to S&P Dow Jones Indices What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a finance-related subject Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required Excellent understanding of financial markets Must be able to work independently Must be able to demonstrate excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities to solve problems Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and related applications Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficient in interpreting and analyzing corporate filings and related documents, and apply that analysis to the data inputs underlying S&P DJI Indices Preferred Qualifications: CFA or advanced degree in business, math, economics, or finance preferred Direct experience at an index provider and/or financial
