Job Title Retail Sales Intern Job Purpose: Sales interns in our Retail area are responsible for calling on a variety of existing customers with the objective of increasing sales for their district Retail Sales The Retail Sales division is responsible for the sale of Hormel Foods grocery, meat, and deli products at various retail outlets such as Wal-Mart, Costco, Kroger, and Dollar General all over the United States. Sales Representatives within the division typically have one or two customers with whom they are responsible for the distribution, shelving, and merchandising of all Hormel Foods products. All Retail Sales Representatives have the exciting opportunity to run their territory like their own business, working directly with the customer at the headquarter level to develop and implement promotional marketing strategies that will increase distribution of Hormel Foods products and ultimately increase sales for their customer.
Responsibilities
Add products into distribution and expand the usage of existing Hormel Foods products Receive training on Hormel Foods products, selling techniques, and business planning Build a business plan for the territory and report results Work with Hormel Foods sales and account management to gain new product placements Impact and contribute meaningful work that will affect the Hormel Foods top and bottom line Required Qualifications: This position will require access to and/or the utilization of a personal motor vehicle. In the case of personal vehicle utilization for the role, a company benefit will be provided. Must graduate in August 2027, December 2027, May 2028 and major in Marketing, Professional Selling, Agribusiness, Business Administration, Hospitality or Hotel/Restaurant Management or relevant degree program with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred Must have the ability to drive a reliable vehicle in various settings, including in metropolitan areas and in all types of weather conditions. Demonstrated leadership, persuasive, initiative, and communication skills are necessary for success in this position Possess a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit Applicants must not now, or at any time in the future, require employer sponsorship for a work visa Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer Must be comfortable with the preparation and consumption of a variety of Hormel Foods Products which may include but not limited to pork, beef, chicken, turkey and nuts.
