Program Summary The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations. Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary

The Environmental Control Specialist is responsible for supporting environmental compliance, pollution prevention, hazardous material management, and occupational health programs at a military installation and industrial maintenance facility. This position helps ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and Department of Defense environmental regulations while supporting vehicle maintenance, industrial operations, and facility sustainment activities. The specialist conducts inspections, monitoring, data collection, and reporting activities to promote environmental stewardship, worker safety, and mission readiness. This position is contingent upon award Roles and Responsibilities Conduct environmental inspections and assessments of facilities, maintenance shops, storage areas, and industrial operations to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and organizational policies. Monitor and support programs related to hazardous materials, hazardous waste, air quality, water quality, spill prevention, and pollution prevention. Collect, document, and maintain environmental data, permits, records, and reports required for regulatory compliance and program management. Assist with environmental investigations, sampling activities, and corrective actions related to environmental incidents, spills, or compliance concerns. Provide guidance to employees and supervisors on environmental requirements, hazardous material handling, waste management, and pollution prevention practices. Coordinate with environmental personnel, engineers, maintenance organizations, and regulatory agencies to support compliance initiatives and operational requirements. Conduct environmental training and awareness activities to promote safe and environmentally responsible work practices. Support environmental audits, inspections, and program reviews, implementing corrective actions and process improvements as necessary.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Biology, Chemistry, Occupational Health, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of environmental regulations and programs related to hazardous materials, hazardous waste, air quality, water quality, pollution prevention, and environmental compliance. Experience conducting inspections, environmental monitoring, compliance assessments, or data collection activities in an industrial, military, or government environment. Ability to analyze environmental data, identify compliance issues, and recommend corrective actions. Experience preparing reports, maintaining records, and managing environmental documentation and regulatory requirements. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and environmental data management systems. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
