Specialist Biomedical Scientist – Histology London, HCA Laboratories at Shropshire House Full time, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday between 7am and 6pm Permanent Competitive salary, dependent on experience We’re looking for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Histology team at HCA Laboratories at Shropshire House. With more than 35 years of experience providing pathology services across HCA Healthcare UK, HCA Laboratories supports acute hospital services, IVF clinics, healthcare screening programmes, insurance services and GP referrals. Our laboratories cover a broad range of specialist disciplines and are equipped with advanced analytical technology, giving colleagues the opportunity to work with complex and varied casework while contributing to high quality patient care. As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Histology, you’ll play an important role in delivering a high quality histopathology service that supports timely diagnosis and patient treatment. Working closely with Advanced Biomedical Scientists, Section Heads and Consultant Pathologists, you’ll contribute to both the day to day running of the laboratory and the continued development of the service. This role offers exposure across multiple areas of Histology, including embedding, microtomy, special stains and frozen section techniques, allowing you to broaden your technical expertise while developing your career within a highly respected pathology network. What you’ll do: Deliver accurate and timely Histology laboratory services in line with departmental policies, SOPs and quality standards Perform a range of routine and complex Histology techniques including embedding, microtomy, special stains and frozen section preparation Support the day to day organisation of the Histopathology department and contribute to service development initiatives Maintain compliance with HCPC, IBMS, ISO 15189 and UKAS accreditation requirements Assist with training and supporting new colleagues while promoting effective teamwork across the laboratory What you’ll bring: Degree in Biomedical Science or a related scientific discipline HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist Experience working within a UK Histology laboratory at Band 5 or equivalent level Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) Strong practical experience across core Histology techniques and laboratory processes Why HCA UK?
