About this role
Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) lead complex end-to-end deployments of complex software in production partnering closely with the business and product teams. FDE will own discovery, technical scoping, system design, build, and production rollout, partnering directly with engineering and platform teams. Success for a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) is uniquely measured by the ability to turn high-stakes, ambiguous technical problems into measurable business outcomes. User-Embedded Discovery & Solution Design: Lead technical discovery with client stakeholders and internal product/design to clarify the problem, constraints, success metrics, and “day-2” ownership. Translate into an end-to-end solution design (data flows, APIs, security model, environments). Partner on architecture reviews and set expectations on scope, tradeoffs, and delivery. Embedded Delivery: Build MVPs, experiments, and proofs-of-concept that validate value quickly, then harden the best ideas into scalable product features. Configure and extend existing platforms (API’s, Enterprise Platforms, Data, or AI tooling) with custom client specific logic to meet business needs. Implement CI/CD friendly configuration and deployment patterns. Turn validated MVPs into secure, observable, scalable solutions for the client/user group, partnering with platform teams to fully productionize and extend solutions. Enable internal teams and clients through demos, technical workshops, as needed. Platform Feedback Loop and Reusable Assets Codify repeatable patterns and reusable modules and integration patterns to reduce time-to-value; contribute best practices and deployment templates to internal repositories. Partner with product/engineering to relay field insights; influence prioritization with evidence from real deployments. Strong hands-on engineering ability with daily coding in a relevant programing language (Java, Java/TypeScript, Python are common) comfortable building across backend services, data pipelines and lightweight UIs. Experience navigating and integrating heterogeneous data sources; building ETL/ELT pipelines; designing APIs/services; and working with cloud and hybrid infrastructure (environments, networking, IAM etc). Production experience with LLMs (prompting, agent design, orchestration, evaluation) and MLOps patterns in enterprise settings. Experience working in a regulated environment. Understands how to build secure-by-default solutions. Strong consulting posture: can lead stakeholders, understand user journeys, manage ambiguity, and communicate tradeoffs High empathy and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical executives. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is the standard minimum requirement. Total Exp: 9-11 years with 5+ years in software engineering, ideally with 2+ years in client-facing delivery experience (FDE/FDSE, solutions/growth engineering, or in a blended Product/Engineering role).
