Psychiatric Unit Secretary Full Time

Description The Unit Secretary performs and coordinates the clerical and public relations functions of the unit. This includes: Serving as unit receptionist, answering phone calls, directing visitors and professionals, as needed. Acts as a backup to Mental Health/Behavioral Technicians, making observation rounds and providing patient care, as needed. Monitors status of laboratory and other diagnostic tests ordered. Conducts chart audits daily to ensure presence of necessary documentation. Responsible for preparing charts for admissions. Responsible for distributing all discharge paperwork to community providers and referring agencies. Responsible for filing paperwork as needed. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working as a psychiatric technician strongly preferred. Comprehensive general clerical skills are required. Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
