As an Optical Assembly Technician for the Extreme Precision Optics Group in Richmond, CA, you will generate a consistent flow of high-quality work performing assembly operations consisting of optical and mechanical components in collaboration with supervision and planning team to meet on-time delivery schedules. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform assembly operations consisting of optical and mechanical components using various bonding agents (epoxies), chemical processing of parts using potentially hazardous materials (acids), with high precision and detail. Set up and break down various fixture configurations, load parts onto fixtures and successfully execute operations as directed. Work with engineering to develop methods for new products and assist in continually improving procedures and methods with a mind toward efficiency. Support continuos improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.). Handle and clean optical components without downgrading the surfaces, maintain a clean and orderly work environment by following cleaning schedules and inventory control, working in a cleanroom environment, including full cleanroom gowning. Perform maintenance and preventatives maintenance on equipment and tooling, lean 6S.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
High school diploma plus 1-year related work experience. Experience in manufacturing environment, proper handling of hazardous chemicals a plus. Experience with optics and optical testing preferred but not required. Experience with simple troubleshooting processes. Team player with solid communication skills. Careful, well organized and detail oriented Strong computer aptitude, with ability to use MS Work and Excel Basic math skills Strong commitment to safety and precision-level quality. Driven to achieve with the ability to take initiative, and flexible with shifting priorities.
