The Equipment Services Technician is responsible for maintaining and improving the reliability of custom automated laboratory equipment that supports critical manufacturing operations. This role directly contributes to equipment uptime, production efficiency, product quality, and the successful delivery of genomics solutions that help advance human health. This position reports to the Equipment Services Manager and is part of the Equipment Services Team located in San Diego and will be an on-site role. In this role, you will have the opportunity to: Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on custom automated laboratory equipment to maximize equipment reliability and manufacturing performance. Diagnose and repair equipment failures involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, fluidics, optical, and PLC-controlled systems while ensuring compliance with quality system requirements. Coordinate planned and unplanned maintenance activities with manufacturing teams to maximize equipment uptime, reduce production interruptions, and support operational goals. Maintain accurate maintenance and asset records by collecting, reviewing, and documenting equipment and instrumentation data within maintenance management systems. Install, calibrate, test, modify, and repair manufacturing equipment using SOPs, engineering drawings, blueprints, work orders, and other technical documentation. The essential requirements of the job include: High school diploma or GED Experience with facilities or maintaining, troubleshooting, or repairing manufacturing, production, laboratory, or automated equipment Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: Ability to lift, move, and carry equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to access and maintain equipment. Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform maintenance and repair activities. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work safely around automated manufacturing and laboratory equipment. It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in: Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, control panels, sensors, motors, and PLC-controlled equipment. Experience performing preventive maintenance on automated laboratory or manufacturing equipment.
