About this role
Are you motivated by creating something new and leading the way? Do you like learning new things and making things better? Do you have a bias for action, high judgment, a controls mindset and like to work with others to generate great ideas, invent and simplify, and solve problems? Global Trade Services (GTS) is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to lead compliance assurance and risk mitigation initiatives across Amazon’s import operations in Mexico. This role goes beyond traditional auditing. The successful candidate will design scalable compliance mechanisms, influence cross-functional teams, leverage large datasets to identify systemic risks, and drive operational improvements that strengthen Amazon’s customs compliance framework. The Audit Manager partners with Retail, Legal, Tax, Operations, Transportation, Product Compliance, Engineering, Finance, Customs Brokers and Government Authorities to proactively identify compliance gaps, develop long-term solutions and improve operational excellence across the import lifecycle. This is a highly autonomous role requiring strong program management, analytical thinking, stakeholder influence and deep knowledge of customs regulations. Key job responsibilities - Lead preventive customs compliance audits across Amazon Mexico import operations. - Design risk-based audit methodologies using Lean Six Sigma principles. - Analyze large operational datasets to identify compliance trends and systemic risks. - Own end-to-end audit execution including planning, fieldwork, reporting and remediation tracking. - Develop scalable SOPs, governance mechanisms and operational controls. - Drive cross-functional initiatives involving Legal, Tax, Retail, Transportation, Engineering and Product Compliance. - Partner with customs brokers and external advisors to ensure regulatory compliance. - Build executive-ready reports that translate complex customs risks into actionable business decisions. - Lead corrective action programs by identifying import transactions requiring post-entry amendments. - Own historical import data governance and support business intelligence initiatives for customs compliance. - Drive continuous improvement projects focused on reducing operational defects and increasing compliance readiness. - Influence global programs by representing Mexico within worldwide governance initiatives and standardization efforts. - Support government audits and regulatory inquiries while coordinating internal stakeholders. A day in the life No two days are the same. You may begin your morning reviewing import transactions flagged through automated risk models, spend the afternoon leading a cross-functional deep dive with Engineering and Legal to improve a customs valuation process, and finish the day presenting audit findings to senior leadership with recommendations that influence future operational strategy. The role requires balancing technical customs expertise, data-driven decision making and strong stakeholder management.
