Ngā kōrero mo tēnei tūranga / About the role This is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within PwC New Zealand’s Tax team in Christchurch, leading tax advisory engagements and working with some of our most significant clients. You will advise large corporate and private groups, infrastructure and property groups, investors and privately owned businesses on important transactions and commercial decisions. Your work will span M&A, transaction structuring, financing, reorganisations, major projects and other complex corporate tax matters. You will bring together strong technical judgement, commercial thinking and trusted advice to deliver practical outcomes for clients, while helping shape the continued growth of our Christchurch and national Tax practice. Your day-to-day could include: Lead complex tax advisory engagements for large and sophisticated clients, bringing together technical expertise and commercial judgement to solve their most important tax matters Lead Tax M&A and transaction work, including tax due diligence, acquisition and disposal structuring, financing, reorganisations and advice through the transaction lifecycle Become a trusted adviser to senior executives and other key stakeholders across large corporates, infrastructure, property and investment groups Grow strong client relationships, identify new opportunities and collaborate with Deals, Legal and other specialist teams across PwC New Zealand and our international network Lead, coach and develop talented team members while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing and commercially focused Tax practice Ngā pūkenga ka kawea mai e koe, ka whakawhanakehia rānei i tēnei tūranga / Skills you will bring or develop in this role Strong experience in corporate tax advisory, ideally including transactions, M&A, infrastructure, property or other complex commercial matters, gained in professional services or a sophisticated commercial environment Strong technical tax capability combined with the judgement to apply complex tax rules to commercial situations and provide clear, practical advice Proven experience leading significant client engagements and building trusted relationships with clients and key decision-makers Strong commercial instincts and a track record of identifying opportunities, developing client relationships and contributing to the growth of a business Demonstrated people leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring and developing high-performing teams Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, together with a collaborative approach and an interest in technology and new ways of working We are interested in hearing from experienced tax professionals across New Zealand and internationally. New Zealand tax experience would be valuable, but candidates with strong corporate tax advisory and transaction experience in comparable markets should also consider applying.
