Job description
Function: Mechanical Location: Sanand Experience: 12 to 15 Years Qualification: Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering degree Industry Preference: Semiconductor Plant The role requires an experienced engineer to lead the composition coordination, quality implementation, and installation oversight for all utility hook-up systems connected to semiconductor manufacturing tools. The candidate should be capable of handling cross-functional coordination for mechanical, electrical, network, water, and gas systems while ensuring conformity with engineering standards, cleanroom requirements, Working on AI-Enabled tools (such as Copilot and Power BI), safety rules, and project timelines. Role purpose This position is responsible for end-to-end coordination of tool hook-up works, from building review through installation, inspection, testing, and handover. In semiconductor projects, tool hook-up is a critical integration stage because each production tool must be accurately connected to utilities such as electrical power, process gases, chilled or process water, DIW, drain system, exhaust, and communication/data systems before startup and qualification can begin.
Key responsibilities
Review tool utility requirements and coordinate hook-up development for mechanical, electrical, network, water, and gas systems. Verify layouts, installation drawings, hook-up packages, utility routing, and interface points with tool suppliers, facility teams, and project collaborators. Manage field implementation of tool hook-up operations and verify adherence to approved drawings, quality plans, and safety guidelines. Coordinate installation activities related to power supply, earthing, cables, data/network connectivity, water lines, gas lines, mechanical supports, and associated utility connections. Ensure cleanroom protocols, contamination control practices, and semiconductor installation standards are maintained during execution. Support QA/QC activities including inspections, punch listing, leak testing, pressure testing, continuity checks, flushing, and utility verification. Work with OEMs, construction teams, quality teams, and facility engineers during startup, commissioning support, interlock verification, and handover. Prepare and maintain engineering documentation such as checklists, as-built drawings, progress reports, inspection records, deviation logs, and turnover dossiers. Apply industrial engineering methods to improve workflow, resource planning, installation sequencing, productivity, and execution efficiency. Identify execution risks, resolve field issues, and drive corrective and preventive actions to maintain schedule and quality targets.
Required qualifications
Mechanical Engineering degree 12–15 years of experience in managing projects, facilities engineering, tool installation, or tool hook-up activities is required. Strong knowledge of building review, field execution, quality assurance, and coordination across multidisciplinary utility systems is required. Proficiency with AI tools (such as Copilot and Power BI) is required. Preferred experience in semiconductor plants, cleanroom environments, or high-tech manufacturing facilities. Ability to understand engineering drawings, utility layouts, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and hook-up documents is preferred. Working knowledge of testing, commissioning support,
