Location: Hibbing, MN Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for Diesel Mechanic at Hibbing Taconite in Hibbing, MN. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the mine mobile equipment fleet consisting of loading, haulage, and all support equipment. Summary of Responsibilities : Interprets drawings and sketches. Plans and determines working procedures. Performs any layout work and makes sketches of parts as required. Dismantles equipment, measures and inspects parts and obtains sufficient information to determine the extent and nature of repairs. Plans details of working procedure to affect the most logical approach to the job. Aligns, assembles, adjusts to close tolerances and tests, which may include compressible ignition powered equipment, such as passenger automobiles, trucks, tractors and prime movers on cranes, shovels, air compressors, light plants, etc. Determines necessary tools and materials. Adjusts and operates equipment such as governor and fuel calibrating equipment, injector and nozzle testing equipment, injector tip microscope, etc. Remodels automotive equipment for installation of pumps, tanks, power tail gates, new boxes or bodies, etc. Reassembles, tests, and adjusts equipment for safe and proper operation. Works in shop or field as required. Completes reports as required. Minimum Qualifications : Two-year degree or certificate in Diesel Mechanic or Journeyman status Two-years post education experience Ability to pass a position specific written and hands-on assessment. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment. Ability to climb stairs, lift, and stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time. Preferred Qualifications : Mining experience. Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays, to ensure 24-hour coverage, 7 days per week. Regular attendance is an essential requirement. Must be able to physically perform all these responsibilities safely: walk on uneven surfaces, climb equipment, operate pickup, and other small fleet vehicles, etc. The pay rate for this role is $41.085-$42.758/hour.
