Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer to join our growing team of diverse professionals. The candidate will support Agile development of MS Windows and cloud-based solutions as a Product Owner and Systems Engineer, performing engineering analysis to define internal and external interfaces, data and user workflows, system architecture and design for new capabilities, as part of the Mission Planning and Decision Support Operating Unit (OU). Daily responsibilities include: Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, requirements maturation, interface definition, detailed trade studies, to translate customer requirements into software specifications Develop and maintain engineering artifacts, drawings, documentation and support generation of reports and CDRLs related updates. Develop User Stories and Acceptance Criteria for the mission planning products Work closely with software development team to implement new capabilities and ensure requirements are met Support iterative development of UI/UX concepts and designs with customer feedback Ensure compliance with engineering processes and standards and contribute to technical problem-solving efforts to mitigate risks and resolve issues Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints May include travel to other locations Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer: BS or higher degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics from an ABET accredited university 2+ years of experience with a bachelor's degree OR 0 years experience with a master’s degree in a related discipline 1+ years experience in one or more of the following Systems Engineering activities: operational concept/workflow development, interface analysis, requirements development and management, authoring engineering reports and documentation, participation in major milestones, design reviews 1+ years experience applying knowledge of electromagnetic theory in the RF spectrum, signals processing Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interface control documentation  Experience as a Systems Engineer on an Agile software development effort Active DoD Secret security clearance investigated within the last 5 years Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance Ability to work on-site in Manhattan Beach (CA) or Melbourne (FL) Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer: BS or higher degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics from an ABET accredited university and 5 years of experience OR 3 years experience with a master’s degree in a related discipline 2+ years experience in one or more of the following Systems Engineering activities: operational concept/workflow development, leadership role in interface analysis, requirements
