About this role

Job Overview

We are seeking a Simulation Engineer specializing in Thermal and Electro-thermal Simulations to join our Hubbell X – Simulation team in Chennai. This role focuses on solving conjugate heat transfer problems in electrical and electromechanical products, particularly in EHV connector applications. The candidate will leverage commercial simulation tools, engineering fundamentals, and analytical methods to predict temperature rise due to electrical loading. This role plays a critical part in enabling simulation-driven product design decisions, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance with temperature rise requirements. You will collaborate closely with product development teams, bridging physics-based simulation and real-world validation, and contributing to high-impact engineering outcomes A Day In The Life

Collaborate with product design and engineering teams to understand thermal requirements and operating conditions

Build and execute thermal and electro-thermal simulation models using CFD tools

Analyze heat transfer phenomena including conduction, convection, radiation, and Joule heating

Perform steady-state and transient simulations to evaluate temperature rise and thermal performance

Conduct analytical calculations to validate simulation results and ensure engineering accuracy

Compare simulation outputs with experimental/test data and refine models accordingly

Support or participate in thermal testing and validation activities when required

Document simulation methodologies, assumptions, and results clearly for stakeholders

Manage multiple simulation projects independently while adhering to timelines and quality standards

What will help you thrive in this role?

Strong foundation in heat transfer principles (conduction, convection, radiation) and Joule heating effects

Hands-on experience in thermal or electro-thermal simulations using commercial tools

Ability to combine analytical calculations with simulation insights for accurate engineering decisions

Experience working on electrical or electromechanical systems from a thermal perspective

Problem-solving mindset with the ability to interpret temperature rise behavior and trends

Exposure to thermal testing, validation, and correlation techniques

Basic understanding of industry standards (IEEE, IEC, UL) for temperature rise

Familiarity with CAD tools for geometry preparation and simulation setup

Knowledge of Python or C# for automation or post-processing is an added advantage

Curiosity and openness to explore AI-assisted simulation workflows and data-driven approaches

Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
