About the Role

DXC is seeking an experienced Automotive Electrical Systems Engineer / Advanced Diagnostic Specialist (Expert) with strong electrical engineering expertise and extensive hands-on automotive diagnostic experience. This role is designed for a highly skilled professional capable of investigating difficult-to-diagnose electrical, electronic, and vehicle communication system issues across modern automotive platforms. The successful candidate will combine engineering principles with advanced diagnostic methodologies to identify root causes of complex failures involving vehicle networks, ECUs, power distribution systems, sensors, actuators, and emerging automotive technologies. This position requires an individual who can independently develop structured diagnostic strategies, execute sophisticated testing, and support cross-functional engineering and operational teams in resolving challenging technical issues. Essential Job Functions Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnosis of automotive electrical and electronic systems. Investigate intermittent, elusive, and recurring electrical faults using systematic engineering methodologies. Analyze vehicle electrical architectures, wiring harnesses, grounding systems, power distribution systems, sensors, actuators, and electronic control modules. Interpret and utilize complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams, connector pinouts, and engineering documentation. Utilize advanced diagnostic tools including: Digital multimeters Oscilloscopes Current probes Insulation and continuity testing equipment Automotive scan tools CAN/LIN diagnostic equipment Network analyzers Data acquisition systems Diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle communication networks including CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet, and related protocols. Analyze communication failures among ECUs, gateway modules, powertrain systems, body control modules, and other networked vehicle systems. Conduct electrical signal analysis including voltage, current, resistance, frequency, duty cycle, waveform, and communication bus measurements. Identify and isolate open circuits, shorts, excessive resistance, voltage drops, grounding faults, parasitic draws, signal integrity issues, and intermittent connections. Perform structured root-cause analysis and determine whether failures are associated with hardware, wiring, software, calibration, communication networks, power distribution, or component defects. Develop and execute diagnostic test plans for issues not resolved through standard DTC-based troubleshooting. Investigate diagnostic trouble codes and distinguish root causes from secondary symptoms. Conduct fault isolation at vehicle, subsystem, circuit, and component levels. Diagnose advanced vehicle technologies including: ADAS systems Electric and hybrid vehicle systems Battery management systems Inverters and electric drive systems Charging systems Electronic steering systems Electronic braking systems Infotainment and telematics platforms Body control systems Vehicle gateways and network architectures Support engineering, manufacturing, service, and quality teams with complex field and production investigations.
