What you will do
In this role, you will oversee projects from pre-construction support through project closeout. You will collaborate with sales teams, installation managers, field operations, subcontractors, and customers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting Johnson Controls' operational and financial objectives. How you will do it Lead assigned projects as the primary execution leader, coordinating activities from project planning through completion. Support project development efforts by contributing to project strategy, value engineering initiatives, scope enhancements, risk assessments, and vendor selection activities. Review project contracts, client bulletins, field directives, and schedule revisions to ensure accurate project execution and effective change management. Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, billings, collections, and cash flow to achieve profitability goals. Monitor project progress, financial performance, risks, and issues, providing regular updates to leadership and stakeholders. Prepare, negotiate, and issue subcontracts while maintaining documentation and contract compliance in accordance with Johnson Controls standards. Ensure construction activities comply with project specifications, local codes, industry standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. Coordinate material procurement, ordering, and delivery schedules to support efficient project execution. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants, contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders. Represent Johnson Controls professionally during customer meetings, project reviews, and progress discussions. Coordinate customer training, commissioning activities, field engineering support, and issue resolution efforts to ensure project success. Utilize Microsoft Project and other project management tools to plan activities, track progress, identify risks, and drive execution. Develop and implement recovery plans when project performance, schedule, or scope challenges arise. Partner closely with Owner and Contractor Sales Managers, Branch Installation Managers, Controls Mechanical Services (CMS), HVAC Installation Managers, Systems Team Leaders, and field personnel to align priorities and remove execution barriers. Ensure engineering, installation, and commissioning activities are performed in accordance with established standards and facilitate escalation of product or system-related issues when required. What we look for Required Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field; or an Associate's degree and/or Trade School Certification with equivalent work-related experience. Minimum of 5 years of direct project management experience within the building construction industry.
