Job Summary
Lead and manage manufacturing projects within the New Product Introduction (NPI) department to ensure successful industrialization, launch readiness, and production ramp-up of new products. This role is responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams, developing and validating manufacturing processes, managing project timelines, risks, resources, and deliverables, and driving alignment with Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and other key stakeholders. The position requires strong project management capability to communicate project status, escalate critical issues, support timely decision-making, and ensure new product launches meet safety, quality, cost, capacity, and delivery objectives. The Manufacturing Project Engineer position will provide advanced machining engineering support and guidance across production—balancing cost, velocity, quality, safety, and environmental compliance while improving equipment and processes. You’ll also help identify and implement process enhancements, monitor reliability, and drive execution of engineering and process changes that strengthen day to day manufacturing performance.
Responsibilities
Drive NPI project execution from concept through production ramp-up, ensuring manufacturing deliverables, timelines, risks, and escalation items are actively managed. Lead and oversee multiple projects and programs, ensuring successful delivery against business objectives, timelines, and budgets. Communicate project status, milestones, and key decisions to leadership and stakeholders. Deploy projects and provide advanced support of Machining Manufacturing Engineering to Caterpillar Facilities. Participating in identifying and implementing enhancements and modifications for equipment and processes. Providing engineering support on planning, development, operation, and maintenance of equipment, processes, or facilities. Education requirements A bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related technical field. English proficiency for technical documentation and cross‑site collaboration. is required Skills you will have Machining Solutions (essential): An advanced knowledge of Machining Manufacturing Engineering is required. Advanced understanding and knowledge on G&M code programming, types of NC controls (conversational, ISO, and others). Advanced understanding and knowledge of CAM (Siemens NX is preferred) Advanced experience on different Machining Center Controls (Mazatrol Matrix, Siemens 840D, Makino, Okuma, Fanuc). Advanced knowledge of GD&T, print reading and 3D modeling. Advanced knowledge on Touch Probe Programming (Renishaw). Advanced understanding of machining processes (process design, execution and control). Advanced knowledge of cutting tools selection. Discusses key considerations and issues in machining processes. Problem Solving: Resolve technical problems and give technical support. Ability to support multi‑shift operations and on‑floor troubleshooting. Lean Manufacturing Working knowledge with Manufacturing Cells preferred. Manufacturing Processes Exposure to Industry 4.0, digital manufacturing, or smart factory technologies . Manufacturing experience within automotive, heavy equipment, or high‑volume production environments. Advanced knowledge of APQ and NPI processes.
