The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.   The Sr. Engineer - Process Safety supports the implementation of process safety management at the Lilly Medicine Foundry (LMF), with primary focus on preparing the site for operational readiness and sustaining process safety compliance once operations begin. This role concentrates on execution: supporting equipment and chemistry Process Hazard Reviews (PHRs), driving PHR action resolution, supporting Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and providing front-line support to Process Engineers, Scientists, Operators, and Maintenance for day-to-day process safety questions. The role owns selected elements of the Foundry Process Safety Management progra m .   The Foundry operates at a rapid rate of change. Clinical urgency and a continuous tech transfer process mean new chemistry and new equipment configurations arrive frequently .  This role sits at that intersection and works in close daily partnership with the scientists and engineers introducing that change.   This is a deliberate development role for a process engineer or early-career process safety engineer. The successful candidate will build depth in a compliance function while gaining exposure to API manufacturing chemistry and equipment across all Lilly platforms .  The volume and variety of chemistry moving through the Foundry offers a breadth of process safety experience .  Mentorship is provided by the site PSM lead and Process Engineering , and the role includes access to the Lilly Globally Integrated Process Safety Management Technical Team and the Global HSE community.

Key Responsibilities

Support the preparation and execution of equipment and chemistry Process Hazard Reviews, including gathering process safety information, verifying safeguard descriptions, and confirming scope coverage across process areas.   Drive resolution of PHR action items, working with action owners in Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Technical Services to close items with quality and confirm they are properly incorporated into the PHR record.   Support Operations-led Pre-Startup Safety Review execution .   Own and maintain assigned elements of the Foundry Process Safety Management program under the direction of the site PSM lead, and support continuous improvement of those elements.   Provide front-line support to Process Engineers, Scientists, Operators, and Maintenance on process safety questions arising from routine operations, troubleshooting, nonroutine activities, and shutdown and startup activities.   Support process safety information generation, including chemical reactivity data, equipment design information, and safe operating limits, in partnership with Process Engineers and Scientists.   Support Management of Change reviews for new product introductions and process or equipment changes, applying internal and Global
