About this role
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers. Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful. Our Devices & Services team combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. We research, design, and develop new technologies and hardware to make our user's interaction with computing faster, seamless, and more powerful. Whether finding new ways to capture and sense the world around us, advancing form factors, or improving interaction methods, the Devices & Services team is making people's lives better through technology.
Manage development health and home hardware products and drive the overall execution and strategy of the team. Lead cross-functional teams to meet schedule, system build milestones, cost, quality and manufacturability. Drive product development processes and phase gate reviews with the cross-functional teams. Lead resolution on key technical issues and communication of project status to stakeholders and leadership. Interface between joint development partners and cross-functional Engineering and Operation teams.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, specialized fields (e.g., Textile/Chemical Engineering) aligning with advanced wearable manufacturing, or equivalent practical experience. 5 years of experience in combined EPM and EPS in wearables, including bridging upstream engineering strategy (e.g., driving cross-functional design trade-offs and schedules with technical judgments) with downstream factory execution (e.g., managing BOMs, CTB material readiness, critical allocations, and JDM builds). 3 years of experience in full-lifecycle NPI programs for smart watches and mix accessory bands, driving Proto/EVT/DVT/PVT phase-gate transitions, sub-assembly integrations, and mass production. Preferred qualifications: Deep technical proficiency in textiles, silicone, and metals, driving strict cosmetic validation, exact color matching across substrates, and yield optimization. Ability to lead technical teams, cross-functional groups, and vendors. Ability to manage multiple tasks and drive them to completion. Ability to communicate in English and Mandarin fluently in order to interact with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to travel up to 30% of the time internationally.
