In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance, and resilient backend services using Java and related technologies. You will work with other engineers, Architects, Product Management, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet business needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and adherence to development principles and quality goals. The candidate will: Build our platforms and systems infrastructure using your strong background in distributed systems, system design, and large scale database systems. Research, analyze, design, develop and test the solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies. Participate in design discussions, code reviews and project related team meetings. Work closely with senior developers, product owners, and QA engineers to understand requirements, contribute to technical designs, and ensure timely delivery of features. Develop technical & domain expertise and apply to solving product challenges. Contribute to technical documentation for developed features and systems. Actively participate in team discussions, retrospectives, and contribute to process improvements. Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating and recommending new tools and practices to improve our development process and product. Required : 5+ years after completing a Bachelor's degree or 3+ years with a Master's degree in Computer science plus practical product development experience in Java (expert level), Spring Boot, REST services, and Web technologies. Experience in Database driven application development (Oracle, NoSQL – Mongo, Cassandra, Couchbase), SQL and schema design. Experience in building a live product that has scaled to a large number of users. A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, software design, problem solving and troubleshooting skills. Experience with version control systems (Git) and build tools (Maven or Gradle). Quality champion with a commitment to writing code and tests to maintain high quality. Ecommerce experience, especially with companies like Amazon or Big tech product experience such as Google, Meta, and Apple. Work closely with colleagues and customers in different functional groups and remote offices across multiple locations. Preferred : Experience in web front end UI development such as ReactJS, Node.js is a plus. Experience in building an e-commerce product that has scaled to a large number of users is a plus. Knowledge of UNIX development environment and associated tools. Experience in other languages such as Python is a plus. Experience in BigData (Hadoop / Spark / Hive) is a plus. Familiarity with foundational AI concepts and practical experience applying AI-powered coding generation (e.g., OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude, Cursor, Windsurf or understanding of transformer-based code generation) will be a significant asset.
