About this role

Standard Job Description 
 The Welder is responsible for producing high‑quality welded components, sub‑assemblies, and repairs for aerospace programs. This role involves interpreting engineering drawings, setting up welding equipment, executing a variety of welding processes (MIG, TIG, FCAW, SAW, and specialty processes), and performing inspections to ensure compliance with stringent aerospace standards (e.g., NADCAP, AS9100, IPC‑610). The welder works closely with fabricators, quality engineers, and program staff to meet schedule, cost, and performance targets.   Key duties include but are not limited to: Welding Production: Perform welding operations on aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and specialty alloys using MIG, TIG, FCAW, SAW, and spot‑weld techniques. Set up and adjust welding parameters (voltage, amperage, travel speed, shielding gas) based on engineering specifications and work orders. Operate robotic welding cells and manual stations with precision. Fabrication & Fit‑Up: Cut, trim, and fit components using saws, shears, grinders, and hand tools. Align and clamp parts to achieve proper joint geometry before welding.Apply tack welding, pre‑heat, or post‑heat as required. Quality & Inspection: Conduct visual and non‑destructive inspections (e.g., dye‑penetrant, ultrasonic) on welds.  Document weld reports, traceability data, and any non‑conformances in SAP/Ariba. Re‑work or repair deficient welds following approved instructions. Safety & Compliance:  Follow all Lockheed Martin safety protocols, PPE requirements, and fire‑extinguishing procedures. Ensure compliance with NADCAP, AS9100, and relevant welding standards (AWS, ASME). Documentation & Traceability: Complete weld logs, material lot numbers, and inspection records for each job. Update work orders and product status in SAP.

Collaboration: Communicate daily with supervisors, fabricators, and quality engineers to resolve issues quickly. Participate in Kaizen events, continuous‑improvement initiatives, and skills‑sharing sessions.  3+  years of hands‑on welding experience Experience welding aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and high‑strength alloys. Basic proficiency using software for data entry and or data tracking  Desired Skills 
 High school diploma or GED; technical/vocational welding program or associate degree preferred. AWS‑Certified Welder (CW) or equivalent; additional certifications (e.g., AWS PCG, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel) are a plus. Familiarity with visual inspection, dye‑penetrant, ultrasonic, or radiographic testing methods. Basic proficiency with SAP (or similar ERP) for work orders, material tracking, and inspection documentation.
