Principal Engineer

About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer (UI/UX & Full Stack) serves as a senior technical leader responsible for defining architecture, driving engineering excellence, and leading the development of modern, scalable, secure, and high-performing web applications. The role requires deep expertise in ReactJS, backend API development and integration, cloud-native architectures, and modern engineering practices. The ideal candidate combines strong front-end engineering skills with backend development experience and a passion for building intuitive user experiences. Experience with blockchain technologies, particularly Cosmos SDK-based ecosystems, is highly desirable. This role influences technical direction across multiple teams, drives architecture decisions, leads modernization initiatives, and mentors engineers across the organization. In this role, you will: Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership Required Qualifications: 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Desired Qualifications: Architecture & Technical Leadership Define and drive the technical vision and architecture for enterprise-scale web applications. Lead architecture, design reviews, and technical governance across multiple projects. Establish front-end and full-stack engineering standards, design patterns, and best practices. Drive modernization initiatives and adoption of cloud-native architectures. Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Owners, Architects, and senior leadership to align technology solutions with business objectives. Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve business outcomes. Provide technical mentorship and guidance to engineers across multiple teams. Front-End Engineering Design and develop enterprise-grade applications using ReactJS, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks. Build responsive, accessible, and intuitive user interfaces that provide exceptional user experiences. Develop reusable component libraries and enterprise design systems. Implement scalable state management solutions using Redux, Context API, or similar frameworks. Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and responsive design principles. Optimize UI performance, browser compatibility, and Core Web Vitals metrics. Backend API Development & Integration Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs and microservices supporting web applications. Build and integrate RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and event-driven architectures. Collaborate with backend teams to ensure scalable and secure API designs.
